a note to other cis women
actually i know that you are so much more than your adherence to your gender assignment u got as a baby. you are observant, you are curious. you are methodical, you are scientific, you are thorough. you are tidy, clean, professional. you gauge how much to let loose, and you are accurate. you are daring and risky, it is something you have to be. or are you really just what that first doctor declared about your body? you are learned. you are academic. you take note. you read and re-read. you check and check and check. you can't imagine not finding out for yourself. you are cynical. nothing gets past you, you feel every slight. you don't stay quiet. you jump at the chance. you are present. you are exhausted, you always keep it together. or are you just a girl? just a clever girl? do the infantilizing unsolicited palms on the lower back make you feel so good, so girly? you are whole. you always have been. you are branching, you are compartmentalized. you have more than one origin and you are a multitude of unique influences. you carry secrets and more than one poker face. you are one thing yesterday and another thing tomorrow, and nothing refreshes you more. you define your own center, you set your own boundaries, you are the sole agent of yourself. or are you only that pretty little thing over there, to be seen and not heard? i know that you are so much more. you are the stronger grounds, you are the muscle. your anger is red hot and you are deft at managing it. you do value your skills. you do have an exact memory. despite it all, you may have never really felt visible. or plainly believed. or understood. you really are so much. aren't you ready to be all of it at the same time without worrying about the trial? the doubt? more and more people are transitioning and expressing themselves as women everyday, even in extremely trying times. that is beautiful news!! it is hurtful to try them any further, you know how it feels to be under the magnifying glass. the good fight is body autonomy and equality for everyone.
